Jane Trembath

Flourish used to belong to Miss Jane Trembath - a Cornish woman who lived in Totnes until her death in early 2001 aged around 87. Jane used to row the boat into her late 70's from Totnes to Dartmouth for charity with proceeds going to the RNLI. When she died I was asked by the Commodore of Totnes Boating Association if I would accompany her twin sister and the Vicar of St Mary's Church Totnes to  scatter her ashes on the River Dart near Sharpham Vineyard on a piece of river known as "The Gut" as it was her favourite place on the Dart. Jane was given Flourish by her father at the age of 13 or 14. She used it to row Flourish as a ferry between Falmouth and Flushing, and continued to for many years. According to her sister the boat was very old when she was given it and by my rough estimate she must be around 100 years old.
